Nestled in the beautiful Champagne Valley, a World Heritage Site in the Central Drakensberg just 23km from Winterton, Berghaven Wedding Venue and Self Catering Cottages is a family run business with a focus on ‘the personal touch,’ with guests lodging in cottages surrounded by some of the most magnificent mountain scenery in South Africa.

Berghaven offers a forest of trees, up to 25km of walking or cycling trails, in and around our property, three dams, open spaces, a swimming pool and playground at the venue. A serene place where children can run and play, ride bikes and have endless fun in a safe environment, while parents relax, enjoying the surroundings, including a lazy afternoon catching fish in any of our three bass filled dams.

Our centrally located venue allows for easy access to all the valley has to offer including biking and hiking trails, golf, restaurants and shops, a craft brewery, reptile park, birds of prey centre, zip-lining, quad biking, hot air ballooning, helicopter flips, horse riding and other exciting experiences such as watching the world famous Drakensberg Boys Choir.

The area also features a vast array of birds, duiker, rea buck, bush buck, porcupines, rabbits / hares, sightings of leopard 5kms away, serval cats, jackal, monkeys, mongoose, monitor lizards, bush pig, snakes and frogs. Champagne Valley is home to over 150 frogs, 25 endemic to the Drakensberg and 10 endangered to the central Drakensberg.

At only two hours drive from Durban and just over four hours from Johannesburg, Berghaven Wedding Venue and Self Catering Cottages is an easily accessible destination for family holidays, special functions or even a quick weekend getaway.
